8 Days Uganda Gorillas & Maasai Mara Wildlife Safari

The 8 Days Uganda Gorillas and Masai Mara Tour leads visitors to two popular Protected Areas in East Africa-Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in south-western Uganda for gorilla trekking as well as Masai Mara National Reserve in southern Kenya for the big five game and a chance to witness the Great annual migration.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in south-western Uganda and established in 1991 although welcomed its first gorilla tourists three years later. It is currently the most populous Park when it comes to mountain gorilla numbers with over 450 individuals and over 18 habituated gorilla groups. Besides gorilla trekking other interesting things to do in the Park are mountain biking, guided forest walks, bird watching and cultural tours outside the Park.

Masai Mara National Reserve is a 1510-square kilometer Protected Area found in Kenya’s River Valley Province. It is marked by sweeping area f gently rolling African savannah plains dotted by big give game (Rhinos, elephants, lions, buffaloes and leopards), wildebeests, Kobs, Impalas, gazelles, Grant’s zebras, Defassa waterbucks, cheetahs and many others.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Uganda’s only International Airport

Arrive in Entebbe International Airport, known as the gateway into Uganda, via an International Flight. Expect pick-up from our professional safari driver and settle into your booked place of stay then get a chance to be acquainted with Entebbe Town or Kampala City by undertaking a leisurely City break/excursion. In the evening try out some local cuisines such as “Luwombo” or Nyama Choma for dinner with breathtaking views of the City’s nightlife.

Day 2: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with views of long-horned Ankole cattle, rolling hills of Kigezi

A visit into the Impenetrable rainforest of Bwindi is a must do when in Uganda. The journey to this spectacular Gorilla Park is undeniably rewarding itself and is about 8-9 hours’ drive through breathtaking countryside views, sights of Ankole long-horned cattle and marked by en-route stops for lunch and photography. Once at the Equator crossing, take photos and have Lunch in Mbarara Town. Meals and overnight stay at the reserved accommodation facility.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in the Impenetrable Forest of Bwindi

On this day, it is time to experience one of the most unmatched wildlife experiences in the natural World-gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The adventure starts with breakfast at the Lodge, followed by transfer to Park Headquarters for briefing on the rules and regulations of trekking the endangered Giant Apes. The actual trekking time ranges from 2-6 hours (including the one hour in the presence of the mountain gorillas) and later enjoy a sumptuous lunch. In the evening head for a guided community walk where you will learn about different cultures and traditions, dance performances as well local cuisines of Batwa and Bakiga people. Refuel with a delicious dinner at the comfortable place of stay them slumber.

Day 4: Drive back to Kampala via Lake Mburo National Park

Watch the beautiful sunrise over the verdant Tropical rainforest before you hit the road to Kampala en-route Lake Mburo National Park, where you will undertake a short game drive. Expect to see zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, olive baboons, Topis and giraffes. Settle for dinner and overnight at the booked accommodation facility in Kampala.

Day 5: Flight from Entebbe to Masai Mara National Reserve

From Entebbe International Airport, it takes about two hours to fly directly into Masai Mara National Reserve, the most popular safari destination in Kenya. On arrival, you will be received by the safari driver who will lead you through the game drive while connecting to your booked accommodation facility. For dinner, be treated to a bush dinner under the stars and afterwards spend overnight at the same Safari Lodge/Tented Camp filled with sounds of the wilderness.

Day 6&7:  Spend two day Game viewing in Masai Mara National Reserve.

Leave your place of stay early for the game drives where Africa’s best kept and raw wilderness secrets can be uncovered. The two days of discovering Masai Mara National Reserve will be filled by a number of activities that include game drives, walking safaris and cultural tours. Some of the must-see animals during these activities are Masai giraffes, Rhinos, lions, warthogs, Cape elands, leopards, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, Cape buffaloes, elephants, Topis, impalas, Oribis, wildebeests, gazelles, giant forest hogs, Dik-dik, African wild dogs and many others. Take time off between activities to fuel with lunch and in the evening enjoy overnight and dinner at the safari Lodge.

Day 8: Exit Masai Mara National Reserve and return back to Nairobi

Drive back to Nairobi City from Masai Mara National Resaerve, in a 5-6 hour road trip. The Journey is filled with breathtaking views of the Rift Valley and arrive in the afternoon for Lunch. You will be driven to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your final flight.
