Lake Bunyonyi is found in the south-west of Uganda between the Towns of Kisoro and Kabale, and sits on an elevation of 1962 meters above sea level. With average length of 25 kilometers and width of 7 kilometers, it boasts of 29 verdant Islands of varying sizes, unique ecosystems and magical histories that surround them. For this tour, the journey starts and ends in Kampala City.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Lake Bunyonyi, south-western Uganda

Upon your majestic arrival in Uganda, you will meet your safari driver at Entebbe International Airport or after having breakfast at your place of Lodging in Kampala you will be picked by your driver. Thereupon, you will be driven to Lake Bunyonyi, a magnificent Lake in south-western Uganda and popular for being Africa’s second deepest Lake. The journey is a long one (lasting 8-9 hours) and therefore be prepared to several stopovers for photography, leg stretching and lunch.

You will booked into a phenomenal ecologically friendly Resort on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi and no activities are planned for this activity given the long driving distance. Relax for the rest of the evening, with dinner and slumber at the same Resort.

Day 2: Lake Bunyonyi Tour

The second day is when your actual Lake Bunyonyi Tour starts. You will move or be driven to the shores of the Lake for a canoe/boat ride where you will get the chance to paddle along the calm waters, while exploring the pristine Islands especially Punishment, Bucuranuka and many others. The mysteries surrounding these Islands will leave you mesmerized but the sights and sounds of beautiful bird species especially Hadada Ibis, Grey-crowned cranes, African fish eagles, Slender-billed baglafetch and bee-eaters will add to your experience. You will have lunch at the same Resort and in the evening go for the community visit.

The Community visit is done in the Company of a local tour guide where the interesting cultures of Bakiga and Batwa will be brought to life. Learn about their unique way of life, tour the local markets and well cultivated farmlands. Also don’t miss tasting local banana beer, learning about herbal medicines and close the day with entertainment in invigorating songs and soul-touching songs. The dinner is at the same Resort, just like overnight and relaxation with phenomenal views of the Lake.

Day 3: Lake Bunyonyi-Kampala City, departure

This is the last day of your Lake Bunyonyi Tour and therefore you will be returning to Kampala City, with lunch along the way, photography session and last-minute shopping for souvenirs at Uganda Equator. Connect to the Hotel in Kampala or Airport for return flight back home. This marks the end of the 3 days Lake Bunyonyi Tour.
