The 3 Days Chimpanzee Trekking tour in Kibale Forest National Park is one of our unforgettable primate trekking safaris. This short tour leads to the western side of the country where Kibale Forest National Park can be explored for its 13 primate species especially chimpanzees alongside other animals and birds that call the Protected Area home. This lush Park extends for over 795 square kilometers marked by Rainforest, Rivers, swamps as well as small parts of savannah grassland.
Much as chimpanzee trekking is the highlight of this primate safari, visitors are also offered chances of undertaking guided community walks in Bigodi wetland Sanctuary.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Leave Kampala City for Kibale Forest National Park, in western Uganda
Depart from Kampala for the unforgettable chimpanzee trekking adventure in Kibale Forest National Park. Your professional safari driver will meet, greet and pick you up from the Hotel or Airport for a scenic drive to the magnificent chimpanzee trekking destination. While driving to the Park, pass through the spectacular remote countryside, rural homesteads, Boulders, rolling hills and tea estates. Make a stop at Nyakayima Ancestral tree for cultural experiences and another at Fort Portal Town for Lunch. You will get to your reserved place of stay for dinner and overnight within the forest or Crater Lakes region.
Day 2: Unforgettable chimpanzee trekking adventures in Kibale Forest National Park
Our safari driver will take you to Kanyanchu Visitor Center for briefing after breakfast, where you will get acquainted with the rules and regulations of the activity, then be allocated to one of the habituated chimpanzee troops. After being assigned a Ranger guide, begin the search for the Great Apes in their natural habitat and this will last for 1-4 hours. When located, spend one hour watching them swinging on tree branches, playing on the ground, resting, grooming or even copulating.
In the evening get a chance to explore the incredible Bigodi wetland Sanctuary where numerous forest and wetland birds such as Great blue Turacos, Papyrus gonolek, pied kingfishers, Papyrus canary and many others can be seen. After this wonderful experience, retire to the Lodge for dinner and slumber with rich views of the forest and cool breeze.
Day 3: Leave the verdant Bwindi forest for Kampala or Entebbe International Airport
It is obvious that you had a great time during our 3 days Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale but it’s the day to bid farewell to the jungle. Have a leisurely breakfast and leave for the Capital or Airport for lunch breaks en-route.
